The Iberá Wetlands are one of the largest and most biodiverse freshwater ecosystems on the planet — home to over 350 bird species, marsh deer, capybara, caimans and free-roaming monkeys. Once devoid of jaguars for 70 years, Iberá is now the stage for one of the most ambitious rewilding projects in the Americas: a story comparable, as BBC Travel put it, to the return of the wolf to Yellowstone.
El Tránsito is a century-old estancia founded in 1921, reimagined as a luxury lodge within the Carambola Portal — the most accessible and storied gateway to Iberá National Park.

A century-old estancia founded in 1921 and reimagined as a nature lodge, El Tránsito has just 13 rooms across five categories: Deluxe, Junior Suite, Junior Family Suite, Suite and Casa Yaguareté. The full-board all-inclusive rate covers all meals, open bar, guided excursions, expert naturalist guides and internal transfers — no hidden extras. The lodge has a private airstrip, making it one of the very few fly-in lodges in Argentina; road access from Corrientes city (CNQ) is also available. Signature experiences include the horse-drawn canoe ride — exclusive to the Carambola Portal and highlighted by BBC Travel — boat expeditions through the esteros, dawn wildlife safaris, horseback rides and stargazing.
