The lodge

The wild heart of Argentina

The Iberá Wetlands are one of the largest and most biodiverse freshwater ecosystems on the planet — home to over 350 bird species, marsh deer, capybara, caimans and free-roaming monkeys. Once devoid of jaguars for 70 years, Iberá is now the stage for one of the most ambitious rewilding projects in the Americas: a story comparable, as BBC Travel put it, to the return of the wolf to Yellowstone.

El Tránsito is a century-old estancia founded in 1921, reimagined as a luxury lodge within the Carambola Portal — the most accessible and storied gateway to Iberá National Park.

Amazing place! Everything from the friendly service to the delicious food and the very well organized activities was truly outstanding. And the hotel premises are already worth 5 stars by themselves. Having travelled a lot around the world, we have rarely been to such a great hotel. Absolute hidden gem.

Absolut empfehlenswert!

Once in a lifetime - fantastic! This was an absolutely magical place to visit. We had 3 wonderful days - and amazing new experiences every day. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was just fantastic ( 4 meals a day and drinks all included) and the excursions were all so interesting and full of wildlife and birds. It is tricky to get to but SOOOO worth it. Felt like a once in a lifetime experience. I can’t recommend it highly enough. If possible it will enrich your experience if you speak some Spanish but we managed fine without any!
